Friendship

A friendship is a special thing

To cherish throughout life,

Even those of not long standing

Need nurturing to growth.

Friends are there when needed,

Yet know when to allow space,

Happy to be called upon,

Understanding of lapses.

A friend will not betray you

Or cast you aside for another,

But will love you for who you are,

Not wishing you to change.

He or she will understand

When you have an off day,

When just everything you say

Seems to come out wrong.

When it seems you have suffered

A sense of humour transplant

For just a day, they will say

Encouraging things to help.

I thank my stars for my good friends,

Where would I be without them?

Yes, Lynn, you are right. What would we do? Where would we be without our friends?
With warmest wishes, Larisa
