Another Lockdown Sunday

entry picture

Another lockdown Sunday
the day and hours tick by long and slow
Another week has passed
with nothing to do and nowhere to go

Today is a strange day for me
not much to talk or write about
The sky is neither blue or grey
the spring sunshine fades in and out

The wild birds are so busy
darting in and out of bare branched trees
The garden is calm and still
no evidence of a gentle breeze

I decide to take a walk
I thought it may help me feel less down
A stroll along the river path
and around our deserted town

Browsing in the empty shop windows
made me feel a little sad
Seeing the closed restaurants and bars
left me feeling slightly mad

The walk was not helping much
nothing could brighten my mood today
It seemed staying down in the dumps
is where I was destined to stay

I wandered into the churchyard
not the cheeriest place I know
I saw fading snowdrops
replaced by a colourful crocus show

Just as the world keeps on turning
seasons of the year come and go
Nature takes the rough with the smooth
simply goes along with the flow

Mother Nature does not get depressed
too emotional or stressed
Perhaps I should be more like her
after all Mothers do know best......  don't they?
