The little black box

back behind the TV

now rules our lives

like a dictator

Wi-Fi is its name

and it has total power over us

it controls us and limits

what we can or cannot do

it's glass eye gleams green

when it is happy

but when it gets mad

it glows red for revenge

it is ruthless

it can shut us down in a heartbeat

taking our world down with it

we cannot dispute or argue

it has the power

and we are its prisoners

it can make or break us

the Wi-Fi shows its cruelty on a whim

no one can challenge its authority

with an iron fist it rules

we are shackled to it

handcuffed by its demands

its grip upon our lives

far exceeding

the smallness of its blackened heart.
