Last night I watched on TV
Musicals The Greatest Show
Filmed at the Palladium
a couple of weeks ago

The orchestra played on stage
music to melt my heart
Singers performed from the stalls
distanced two metres apart

The great stars of the West End
took turns under the spotlight
The songs I know well and love
made an emotional night

It was The Greatest Show
it was wonderful to see
I miss trips to the theatre
so the perfect treat for me

But I also felt saddened
admit to shedding a tear
So many lives affected
during this pandemic year

All the theatre performers
people behind the scenes
For those unable to work
with no financial means

I think of all those shows
cancelled day after day
I wish I could book them all
without further delay

I have composed a long list
of all the shows I must see
To buy all those tickets
I need to win the lottery
