The Cause of So Many Tears

It's been some time, too many years
Since the cause of so many tears
Since a set of people and their shoddy work
Caused so much injustice and so much hurt.

And it's still unfolding, as it always would
Until I close the chapter in the way I should
And it drags me backward, and I can't move on
And it will wear me out until the job is done.

Because I love my children, and I love myself
And they deserved their childhood, and we deserved our health
And others like us deserve a chance ahead
That they won't meet professionals like the ones we met.

I want to tell our story and create a change
And force the system to learn from the mistakes it made.
For if any had done so before our turn
We might have been rescued from any harm.

So it breaks my heart and is my abiding shame
That as of this moment I must take some blame
If any are hurt the way we were
Because I haven't yet succeeded, but I will I swear.

Thank you to everyone who has clicked 'Like' for this poem.

Though in itself it might not provide much to the reader, (unless you happen to be someone with similar experiences).

But, in the jigsaw of my poetry it is a very important piece.
