DIVORCEE

She is on her own

in her own little house

finally through with

the hearings

the judges

the lawyers

the divorce went through

now she is left

to her own devices

her cell phone

her tv

her old radio on the counter

her voice echos into empty rooms

her kids are grown and gone

she has no dog or cat

she has nothing to keep her busy

so she relies on her cell phone

to putter around in other peoples lives

divorced from her x

and from her former life

she finds company in strangers

who temporarily fill

the emptiness in her heart

but strangers come and go

and do not make a true relationship

so she is left again in loneliness

time slips away

her world recedes

leaving her with only

the deafening silence of

her memories.

There might be some for which this stays a fact
But I think very few end up like that
Far more find brand new good times in a world so wide
Without the troublesome lump still at their side.
