I Miss You

entry picture

Son, I miss you very much

I hope you are doing okay

I hope you will be home soon

Back home for Christmas Day

I follow posts on Facebook

Instagram and Twitter too

I search through the photos

To catch a glimpse of you

Mum, I miss you very much

I am fine, everything is okay

I should be home very soon

Back home for Christmas Day

You won’t see me in photos

To show my face is what I fear

If I appear on internet posts

I have to buy a case of beer

Last night I received a message

A post shared for me to see

Recognise this helmet Mum?

Here is a recent photograph of me

Fine poem, Julie, in which the final stanza and the photo reveal the full story. Written from the heart.

Thank you Keith for your lovely comment and like. It is much easier to keep in touch these days, when he is not too busy of course!! and even easier when he wants or needs something, but I suppose that is what mums are for.

Thank you Vautaw and Stephen for the like.

A beautifully crafted poem written from heart to heart. As a young soldier many years ago, I can relate to this. I wrote weekly to my mum. She was my mainstay, especially when overseas.
Thank you for this
Keith
