Retraining Bert

 

Chefing is not what it used to be

His boss called him in and explained.

'We're now on tier 3 says the edict,

and boozers like this have to close.'

 

'No boss, we're exempt,

like the 'Spoons have been told.

We sell grub and that's kosher

just the ale house is doomed.'

 

'It won't work like that lad,

the punters are scared.

And I can't serve the locals

on stools at the bar.'

 

'It's tables and waiters

and masks on the staff.

Not a soul will come in here,

the craic is all lost.'

 

Bert signed on so sadly

they said he should try

to train in a new skill

to dance would be fine

 

Ballet is great

and you'll love it

they said.

 

The middle age paunch

will soon disappear.

The barre is so healthy,

the bar with no beer.

 

The leg that diabetes

took from you last year,

will leave you so much lighter

when you do a pas de deux.
