family themed poems for a friend quite old ones

BROTHER

My dear brother I think of you now, what you mean to me as my brother.

We have a family bond that is very special at this time of year.

As your sister I want to say thank you for being there when I needed you.

We are a family no one can take that away from us.

Our times together through good and bad we are a family and that matters to me,

to us all. Thanks for being there my brother.

MOTHER

My dear mother you mean so much to me at this time of year.

When the nights draw in and the temperature drops I think of you.

Of the family bond we have from so far back mother to daughter,

Years fall away like birds like birds of a feather.

I think of you at this cold time of year, of the warmth you bring me.

You my dear mum.

◄ a nice moving poem, my most touching in over a decade

poems i read at Scribble Fest, Rochdale July 2011 ►
