Echoes
Exhausted your contemplation of misery?
How much is it worth your soul to know?
Evil exists, persists, when it benefits you.
You hope he is just an adventurer who deceives himself.
But, remember, the devil has uncovered himself in his power.
We are all sentenced to death.
Condemned. World without end.
Are you magnanimous, generous?
Full of the milk of human kindness?
Neither am I.
Is a jinn* essential to you?
You know, you neglect your soul and you choose to do so?
In that case, can you not exalt yourself, simply?
So that a kiss can no longer lie?
I know life prostrates you.
Misery is not as essential as a clear day in summer,
When every aspect of life delights you.
Take heed of the highs you discover
In hidden places in dustycorners.
Nothing can be hidden from you, if you have the eyes to see.
Everything is close, palpable.
Follow where the eye or the thought leads
Solitary paths can be sad or lonely.
But if you choose the light; then everything, down to the shadow, is light.
* -Jinn (Arabic: جن, jinn), also Romanized as djinn or Anglicized as genies (with the more broad meaning of spirits or demons, depending on source), are supernatural creatures in early pre-Islamic Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology.
