Autumnal Glory

Autumn nights are drawing in

an icy wind is blowing cold

Beneath blue and sunny skies

trees turn from green to gold

All around nature is changing

bracken fades to rusty brown

Purple heather hues on the hills

copper leaves are falling down

The days are getting shorter

an extra hour as clocks go back

The nights are cold and long

moonless skies, darkest black

Grey smoke drifts from chimneys

log burners and coal fires alight

Peeking behind closed curtains

house windows glowing bright

Damp mornings with a heavy dew

Starry nights cold, crisp and clear

Mother Nature in Autumnal glory

at this most beautiful time of year
