Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Thank You WOL

entry picture

I just wanted to write a little thank you note to everyone at WOL.

As some of you will know I am very new to poetry and only started writing at the start of lockdown.  Since then I have written around 130 poems, most of which have been shared on WOL.  Right from the very start of joining the site I was made to feel welcome and many of you have written kind and generous comments and awarded some of my poems with likes and flowers.  These comments and likes have given me confidence to share some of my poems on a local Facebook page where they have been quite well received.  Due to the interest shown I put together a little book of local and pandemic poems.  Instead of holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning I have printed 50 copies of the book and I am hoping to raise funds through selling copies locally.  I am not asking for donations on here.  This post is just to say thank you to all because every kind comment and flower has contributed by encouraging me to keep writing and keep sharing.  Jx

THANKYOU

Both lovely places Julian, small world. I do consider myself very lucky especially during these times. Lovely walks on our doorstep and great local shops.

Good point re climate. I lived in Dentdale for a couple of years, and that had more weather than scenery.
I also lived in Caton for a while. Lunesdale is rather special.

Yes I am very lucky to live in Kirkby Lonsdale, many poems in my little book have been inspired by the local scenery.... and the weather?

And thank you to you, Julie. The book's title suggests you are based in the town (KL) that inspired both Ruskin and Turner, and I am sure you are continuing on in that tradition. Keep up the good work.

Thank you all for your messages of support, kind comments and likes. I am very nervous about putting my poems out into the public domain but it is for a good cause. Vautaw I have no plans for an ebook but I think I can share the proof of the book with you, I have tried to send it in an email, please let me know if you receive it. jx

What an awesome thing to do Julie. Writing poetry to support good causes is one of my favorite things to do. It is so spiritually rewarding. Let me know if you create an ebook. I would love to read your poems and support your project. I agree, WOL is a wonderful community. It's like a virtual family from all over the world cheering each other on! ❤️

Congratulations and good luck! I'm also glad that our growing community works out for so many of us. Reminds me how special it is that we're from America to India and beyond and in between.
Thanks for sharing this ?
