Grow

Flowers grow in sunshine

they die there too

I see her

this girl from afar

She is staring at me

her gaze like a hawk's

Her expression is clear

she understands her heart will be mush soon enough

The way she drags her body

scraping her skin

The blood on her hands gives her no reaction

A comfort she finds in feeling so little

Poor girl

I know you now

Your bones will collapse beneath you one day

and dirt will cover your vision

but the sky is for us all

and those birds chirping are singing a song called

life

they're singing for you
