The Lonely Room

Dim lit halls

and empty walls

remind me

of a tomb

I see no sun

no greenery

from within

this lonely room

No one comes in

no one goes out

no visiting is

the rule

I miss my wife

my family

they must be

lonely too

It's been so long

since anyone

came close

or shook my hand

I am alone

without contact

I do not

Just how long

will this go on

I can only

just assume

In isolation

I will die

doomed to

this lonely room.

What a beautiful poem, says so much in so few words. 😢

no. this was written for all those trapped in nursing homes
when the Chinavirus hit.
Many died without a chance to see their families for the last time.

So many are wandering in crowded rooms and busy city streets who feel such abandonment and isolation.

Well captured, emotionally captivating.
