Heads Ups and Lock Downs

Ups and Downs

Infection rates rocket, the world closes down,

Pick up the cases, stay in and alone.

High on the agendas, our confidence low,

To stop the infection, better stay home.

Down time in garden, uploading zoom,

Upturn economy, folk feeling down,

Shutters all down, no-one in town.

All down to the cock up,

Top brass give low down,

With graphs sometimes rising, some deaths not shown,

Capacity testing, not testing at all

Numbers once risen, now tell us they fall.

Now out of lockdown, things looking up,

Up take of testing, infection rates drop,

Low down each night, but up selling rife

Loved up in lock down, stuck in with the wife.

Stand down as the R rate seems now to fall,

But this shower don’t know, keep us in thrall,

Don’t know their R’s from their elbows at all.

Flatten the curve, take on the chin

Is herd immunity how we will win?

We’ve tackled the mugger, down to the ground,

But worrying now is the fall in the pound.

This let up may let down the old and infirm

And put at some risk the next school term

So fasten your seatbelts again for phase two,

Helter and skelter, but we will come through.
