Brothers & Sisters

The stage is set

The players have assembled

Let us begin.

It’s the arguments and tears

It’s the fighting and the fears

That drain a happy home

Of love and understanding.

Will it ever end this bickering

And fighting

Vicious words and vile back biting.

Why are some brother and sister always

So bloody minded.

Secrets never sacred

No holds barred,

Nothing safe once

Seen or said.

Memories long

Never fail and far too long avail

And gain in turmoil.

Jealousy dulling the brightest spark of decency

Bitterness festers

And chaos reigns.

Then within days, all is forgiven

Forgotten and buried

As if there was no yesterday.

But for a time

Nothing is as it was,

Suspicion and caution

Rules the day.

Each has to build trust

Swallow disgust, adjust,

Prove their worth

And start over again.

Thanks Cynthia,I take your point but I like to think forgiveness is possible and is in all of us.

Really good, Val. It's an honest topic to hit head on. You have highlighted so many tensions that a little mutual respect would circumvent. I, myself, don't think that many of these relationship crises are actually forgiven, let alone forgotten. In my opinion, toleration isn't really happiness.
