Our Duet

Together, in perfect measure
sinewed trees flailing,
skeletal

we were willows.

Out of love, in love,
lip stained saliva scars
glowed in heat.

Two, a duet
we sang our song.

Hands pressed the keys
of your ribs,
dragged down
slight bite of nail
we played
an entire orchestra.

Together, in perfect measure
we made a heroic couplet.
