This Saturday: Write to Speak presents ....

Would you like to take part in a bold poetry initiative to help capture the voice of Hull, and maybe perform your work at Hull Truck?

Write to speak presents ‘They f**k you up...’ - an ambitious poetry experiment designed to capture the voice of Hull. Taking place over two nights, July 2nd & 3rd, at the Studio space at Hull Truck Theatre, and will feature poets from around Hull performing their work as part of Larkin 25.

The project will begin with the presentation of a series of workshops led by Joe Hakim and Mike Watts, in association with Hull Truck’s Interact department and www.thisisull.com, the first of which will take place on Saturday, 1st May, from 5pm to 7pm.

‘They f**k you up ...’ is an attempt to lay the foundation of, what is hoped will be, an ongoing series of education programmes extending to, and involving, schools, colleges and libraries in, and around, Hull. It is hoped that this will help make poetry more accessible and available to all, and further cement Hull Truck’s reputation as a centre of excellence in the national poetry and spoken word scene.

The workshops are free, any style of poetry is welcome, and no experience is necessary, just a willingness to get involved; though some of the material may contain adult themes, so participants must be over 16 years of age.
