Creative Writing Courses with Julian Jordon

Julian Jordon, professional non-fiction writer, editor, scriptwriter, and performance and slam poet, is running another series of his popular Creative Writing and Scriptwriting courses at Stockport Art Gallery.

The first workshop, this Saturday, 24th April, is ‘Writing Inside Out’ – you will learn how to draw inspiration from your own experience and feelings, and write a short, but powerful piece of your own.

On Saturday, 15th May, in ‘Writing Out Loud’, Julian will teach you how to write work to be read aloud, adapt existing poems and other short pieces, and write new ones to perform or share at open-mic events.

There are also two scriptwriting workshops: On Saturday, 29th May, there is ‘Scriptwriting Introduction’. In this, participants will view film examples, learn about story basics, creating characters, opening scenes, and some dos and don’ts. You will also write a scene for completion between workshops.

The second workshop follows on from the first, and will take place on Saturday, 5th June. It will concentrate on reviewing and polishing existing scenes, writing dialogue, and considering resources to enable you to continue your writing trajectory.

All of the workshops start at 10am and run until 1pm, and are suitable for 16 years + and adults.

The workshops are all FREE, as the fees are paid by Stockport Gallery, but booking is absolutely essential. You can book by calling 0161 474 4453
