O Glorious Spring!

Past the yellow forsythia bush
And down the hill behind it
A rickety bridge spans a brook
Running swift with winter’s thaw

A grove of birch trees appears beyond
Just past the precarious crossing
With barks of paper and
Bursting buds of vivid lime

A Snowy Day

Snow falls heavy
In cotton candy clusters
The curly haired girl,
Rosy cheeks kissed by the frosty air,
Trudges through the towering drifts
On tiny booted feet
Toward home
Where love, safety, and comfort await.

And the creatures below

I am the sky

And the blackest crow

The towering redwood

Touching the sky

The lowly weed?

The Old Dictionary

The Old Dictionary

Denim blue cover

Shabby and faded

Papery stitches nearly lost

Fragrant with the spice of time

Generations of use

By inquisitive hands,

The yellowed pages speak it’s age.

Antiquated?

Yes perhaps

Yet still alive with words and meanings

Ready and waiting

To serve

The next curious mind.
