Hi Rachel - thanks for commenting on Peepholes - much appreciated x
Thu 7th Apr 2011 19:22
arr ey rach...im sure john would have rolled his eyes at the thought of another looney claiming knowledge of his heart. i havent read your lennon poem, but would like to now...all news is publicity! im sure its considered, real and warm like the other work of yours that i love xx

Dignified response that, Rachel, to a rather odd comment
Thu 7th Apr 2011 13:39
I'm gobsmacked by that interchange. Could I just vouch for the fact that Rachel was the most worthy of winners. The poem was performed beautifully and connected John, the MAN, with the rest of humanity - a great character but imperfect, like the rest of us. It was a gentle piece though and I don't think you could possibly judge it off paper.
If you want something that made people feel more for him, perhaps you should have read mine Andrew. Here's the link. You'll be disappointed to hear that I didn't getplaced.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the candour. I'm sorry you feel John would be disappointed, though I don't quite understand how you'd ascertain that, with all due respect. I responded to the competition with my own honest interpretation, which was memory-based and limited as I was young when he died. Everyone who entered presumably came at it from their own perspective, I'd be interested to read yours, why not make a profile on here and post it up as a blog? As for the lack of impact of my poem on you personally, I feel poetry is a very subjective thing and also, seeing the words flat on paper is very different to seeing it performed (it was a performance competition). Thanks again for your comment.

With all do respect: Congrates on your win on the Lennon contest! It's ironic how they invited the world, but only rewarded the U.K.! I read your poem, and related it to anyone! Didn't feel John's heart, only your memory of a harbor of! I entered, but being from the U.S., probably saw a trash can and not consideration! I think John would have been very disappointed! Not that I should have won, but at least considered! Thank You for making others, feel nothing for him!

You should try to make it to the Tudor again. Failing that I may venture up to Preston again - though I'd have to make sure I got there early! Hope you are ok. Izz xx

Hi Rachel Just remembered that thanks to your good offices I'm 'poem of the month'. Thanks for that and for your kind introduction. By the way still haven't seen your prize winning poem yet.

A brilliant win, Rachel.
Hey, you were very kind to old fellah me at The Atrium.
Where can I access the two poems you performed?

Congratulations on the Lennon slam win. I enjoyed your set at Pumpkin Soup in Preston. Very good.

Hi Rachel. I used to have a Lennon-flavoured poem on here but I took it off. I'm increasingly disinclined to put my poems on this site. I got two poems for the comp. I'm guessing you have too. I was at the Liver Bards last night in Liverpool with Liam Brayd, anotehr of the finalists. It's an unusual comp, I think. Good luck. We should have a few drinks together on Saturday. Isobel is in it too. Pip pip!
Wed 3rd Nov 2010 06:51
My signature colour of course - not sure if you'd call it pillar box or cherry - not sure if they will last till Saturday either - she couldn't fit me in any later. Am finding life intolerable with long nails - can't even unzip my flies... think I'll be filing them down before they ever drop off.
Wed 3rd Nov 2010 01:18
Hey, good to hear you read your POM in features. Great. Good luck in L'pool. Win x
Tue 2nd Nov 2010 20:02
Félicitations, Rachel, et quel honneur !
J'aime beaucoup ton poème 'Dad'... surtout la dernière ligne.
Tue 2nd Nov 2010 16:10
Hey Rache - lovely photo, but it's a shame the microphone is obscuring you a bit! Good luck for Saturday, sorry I can't make it! I went to the WOL weekend at Hebden Bridge, if there's another one maybe I might see you there? I had a really good time. I wish there was somewhere round here that I could perform at. Everyone there said "start your own" but I don't think I'd have the confidence for that. xx
Tue 2nd Nov 2010 10:13
Hey Rache! So pleased that your wonderful poem Dad is poem of the month! And I love the photo of you. Maybe you should change your poets profile photo? I find changing mine is very liberating! Lots of love to you Anniepooxxxxxxx
Tue 2nd Nov 2010 08:44
Lucky you - my older ones just don't get poetry. Number 3 looks promising though. I do have 2 sisters, a brother in law and a mum though - so I won't be without a fan club!
Great idea to let folks know - I don't have time now cos I'm off to work and then getting my nails done. You go for it - I'll do mine later.
Congrats on poet of the month by the way - well deserved! xx
Fri 22nd Oct 2010 10:27
Will mail you privately for a little chin wag. I'd have invited you to chat but for the fact that I have one off today and am supposed to be going out soon - recording summat. Have you done your bio yet? As soon as we are both up there, I'm going to update my profile and let folks know what we are up to - we might even get a group goint...
Fri 22nd Oct 2010 10:06
No worries Rachel - like I say, I don't know you, but I've been in that situation, with a small child, and it's incredibly difficult. You will pull through though - both of you. Would be good to meet you sometime. My advice now - get plenty of chocolate, crisps and pop in, and watch some crappy kids films tucked on the couch with your lass :)
Mon 18th Oct 2010 20:22
Hi Rachel just caught yours too! Really well delivered. Enjoyed them a lot.
Mon 18th Oct 2010 19:31
Dear Rachel as you've been kind enough to leave positive comments about my poems I thought you might like to check out this link to some poems of mine on You Tube, at least it will increase my count from single figures!

Hi Rachel thanks for your comment on Biting The Bullet.... Im enjoying seeing the different styles and interpretations on the theme.
Fri 3rd Sep 2010 21:55
Thanks for your comment on my bullet poem - you picked some of my favourite bits - if only I had the time to polish it better. Are you going to write one? I love reading themed poetry - am not always able to do it - have to be fired up at the right time - it's nice when it comes though. x
Fri 3rd Sep 2010 12:26
Thanks very much for your warm comments on Climbing the Malverns, Rach. Have to admit I found your latest a tough read, but it must have been important to you to write. Take care! xx
Fri 27th Aug 2010 13:13
Hi Rachel I'm Really flattered that you chose 'My Chair' as poem of the month. Thanks!
Wed 25th Aug 2010 17:48
Glad you liked Walking the Shore. It was about a former colleaque who I was drinking with last night, as it happens. Glad to report he's in the best of health! Commiserations about the rejection, by the way. I had a sheaf of returned poems waiting on the mat for me when I got back from my hols the other day. Ain't it always the way?!
Sat 21st Aug 2010 21:39
Been thinking about Jelly Babies and the comment you left on my profile. I don't think we should beat ourselves up too much about the things we don't do. Our gift to them is their siblings. That's how they learn to share, stand up for themselves, understand and accept they are not the centre of the universe - great lessons for later life - I don't think they need jam on it... xx
Thu 19th Aug 2010 13:04
Well done for winning the Wigan Slam, Rachel! Seems to me it's a bit like winning the FA Cup. Onwards and upwards!
Wed 11th Aug 2010 06:15
Hi Rache - I hear that you've won summat - couldn't happen to a nicer poet!! Lots of love Anniepooxxxx
