MAKING LOVE

Seeing - Hearing - Smelling - Touching - Tasting -

Senses of the body

Can be channels to the Whole Being

The 'All-ness' of a person

Which is never just physical.

If, when having intercourse,

You bring all five into play

Skilfully, without love,

The partner knows.

You are not 'making love'.

You are having sex:

Copulating for progeny -

Relieving tension -

Supplying expectation -

Scoring!

But you're not 'making love'!

It can be physically satisfying -

Like chips when you're hungry

Water when you thirst

A bath when you're weary

A Scotch with the 'News' -

Just don't call it 'making love'!

Making love transcends the Body

And opens portals to Spirit.

It is utter submission one to the other

Freely, fearlessly.

Your bonded bodies become a 'new thing'

As amazing as skies and seas,

Toads and trees,

Life and Death!

A kind of 'Elemental Fire'

Still surging through Creation

From The Big Bang.

This is beautifully and succinctly put as always Cynthia. So many people refer to sex as love and miss the point which you certainly haven't here. Hope you are keeping well and look forward to catching up sometime soon

Wonderful Cynthia, and such a wonderful reflection on how sex differs from a real coming together in love. Though I would have loved the BIg Bang ending. ?

A moment of truth from me would be that i've never experienced this feeling of melding together during the act - which is sad I know. A cross to bear and who knows the reason. You have however a fine piece of poetry to illustrate a wonderful state of being. The idea of submissiveness or domination has never quite suited me, nor any partner. Ah well there you go.

My mind is humming these days, Thank God!

I can't imagine anyone considering this piece as salacious, or whatever. If there should be any 'backlash', just say so and I will remove it.

For the really sharp of mind, I so wanted to end it with 'From the First Big Bang', but then I considered some of my valued supporters and decided not! I could just HEAR the shrieks of mirth in my head.
