Two award-winning poets will be making guest appearances at Write Out Loud’s open-mic Poetry Jam at Marsden jazz festival on Sunday 13 October. Louise Fazackerley, who made her poetry debut at Write Out Loud Wigan, is a performance poet and artist-in-education who won the Radio 3 Verb New Voices commission with her spoken word show Love Is A Battlefield. She has appeared on Radio 4’s Women's Hour, Radio 3’s The Verb, blogged for the Guardian, and recently toured with John Cooper Clarke. John Foggin has published four pamphlets/chapbooks, and two collections. He is a regular poetry competition winner, and writes a poetry blog, the great fogginzo’s cobweb, and a further blog, The Great Fogginzo’s Wider Web, on Write Out Loud.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Write Out Loud poetry jam at Marsden, and for Julian Jordon as its compere  – and this year the venue is changing, from The Railway pub to Hanson’s Community Arts. The Poetry Jam runs from 11am to 1pm and entry is free. In addition, copies of the Marsden the Poetry Village competition anthology will be on sale at the jam, at a specially discounted price.

And don’t forget - do arrive early to make sure your name is on the open-mic list!
