Trash Day

Softly breathing warm in bed

The squeaking sound of a massive truck

Gently pulling you from your dreams

Its crane arm lifting bins at your neighbors

Two homes away

GASP.

IT’S TRASH DAY!

GET UP. RISE UP.

SHAKE THE SLOTH OF YOUR SLUMBER.

YOU STILL HAVE TIME!

No bra, no shoes, pandas on your pajamas

Surely the garbageman won’t mind

Brian, if this site had a "?" for your comment, I would've hit it a couple of times.

Frances, yes, late last night I didn't want to take the bin out in the dark. But then this all too familiar scene played out in my head, so I grabbed my flashlight and took it out right then. Indeed, an *inspiring* subject.

Don, your response rhymes are always so clever and a joy to read. Thanks for sharing!

I heard the garbage truck (vaguely)
Or was it in my dream?
A kick from partner, wake up Don
Put bin out, quick, full steam

Shit! yes, the bin it overflows
I race out naked-like
No shoes, no jarms, no, nothing else
Truck's gone, no-where in sight......

No-one around....

Just my luck....?

Reminds me of something I wrote... seems both a popular and inspiring subject.

I know what you mean Candice...I've had to rush out bra-less a couple of times.
