Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

her parents

we’ve looked at what you’re bringing in
and what you cost

and we can’t escape the conclusion
we’re operating at a loss

all those years of encouraging
I know they’re gone

even if we sued
it wouldn’t add up

we can’t afford you
you don’t earn your keep

you don’t add enough value
for what we give

perhaps in another context
we’d be lucky

but we only have
this one life to live

we made you this sandwich
here’s a map

we’re dropping you off
don’t walk back

we offer you the best
that’s what we had

you’ll have to make it on your own
we’ll start over again
