TRUCE

TRUCE

saw you
standing there
put you in
the crosshair
had so
much fun
now feeling
under the gun
went from
once upon a time
to drawing
hostile lines
why do
we fight
when we're on
the same side
looked to
you
to help me
soldier through
slept below
the sky
now it's a field
of mines
walk on
my toes
so one
won't explode
wake up
rattled
fatigued from
the battles
at the
readfy
for bouncing
betties
thought we had
it made
ignited like
a grenade
took a shot
at love
it blew
right up
declared war
on me
as if i'm
the enemy
gear went
adrift
perhaps it was
a gift
need to
make clear
what our mission
is here
gotta be
a solution
for a peaceful
resolution
not in combat
with you
let's call
a truce
i'll be your
defender
raise the flag
surrender
