Before the silence falls

The thing I wanted to know about–

Sent out texts and calls

A desperate stop on the bus

Before the silence falls

The light stays on for an hour

Before the power shuts off

You made a gift of a flower

And a handwritten postcard

I bought three ready made dinners

And cans of soup for lunch

Ready for this summer’s winter

Getting ahead on the wash

And I signal and stand

Perfectly still

As the moment folds hours

Over on itself

I think this is 'lovely' - an odd word for such a sad subject, but there it is - a kind of 'beautiful'.
