The end of interest

entry picture

I'm simple this way

this way leaning

Watching your want

this way fading.

You're always his way

his way gleaning.

I'm holding this loss

this way leaving.

When you leave

the conversation

before you've left

the company-

when I've left

your busy thoughts

after I've left

your sympathy-

with your touch

and cooling look

and your grasp

I try to bind

is like tying with

a broken chord

a memory

of a kind-

A fine piece of writing--really a rarity.

I just read this aloud while the wife was in the bath. Man oh man oh man. Leaving me without an end rhyme to go with "behind", sheer lump in throat stuff. Keep coming back to this, over and over.

Really digging on the terse verses here, Tommy. Also, the rhythmic razmataz after "This way leaving" is top notch.
