Budding Marlowes wanted in Deptford

entry picture

The Albany Theatre space in Deptford is looking for new writing talent for ‘Freshly Squeezed’ – a script writing evening for anyone with a desire to write performance poetry, spoken word or verse plays for performance within a theatre setting.

They are looking for scripts that focus on youth and young people’s experiences living in London. The writing selected will be developed by a professional director and actors to be shown as a rehearsed reading in front of a public audience on 8th April 2010.

To take part you need to submit ten pages of your writing by Monday, 8th March; that can be either a short piece or an extract from something larger. Each piece submitted will be carefully read and considered by a panel of theatre and performance specialists, and they promise they will get back to you! They will then select approximately five entrants who will have their work developed by the professional cast.  Anyone can apply, of any age and at any level of experience, as long as the piece is written to be performed.

Send your ten pages by email to programming@thealbany.org.uk

or post to The Albany, Douglas Way, Deptford, SE8 4AG
