once

once in late day /

i let myself go /

i laid on your heavy chest /

felt my heart beat in the air /

i wished you never fade /

once in early summer /

the nights became less and more lonely /

i opened my locked soul /

yearned for you to take me /

and the silence of reason /

gently invited me in /

once in a warm darkness /

the only light was you /

you slowly sink back /

under the sea /

i saw sailors pulling you out /

once it was skin on skin /

you wished to let go /

and still you held me /

motionless and without words /

struck in the burning of change /

once heavy in the moonlight /

do you remember the blue? /

the relentless of goodbye /

maybe i have you only /

only for a quick hello /

once again we prayed and drank /

and drove each other to the end /

i had you /

like butter and marmelade /

stuck on my fingers /

everything i touch /

turns into you /

once you touched every part of me /

i turned into a memory /

breathing little bits of you /

i find you even in the smoke /

even in the ash /

once you set me on fire /

i didn't want to escape /

i didn't search for an exit wound /

and there were many.

◄ you, again
