Renewal

She stood there, alone.

Stripped naked, bare, fearful

of a solitary stare.

Frozen momentarily on the threshold

of that first tentative step,

out of the warm embrace of the darkness

into the soulless glare

of an abyss of nothingness.

One, that stretched endlessly,

inviting yet threatening.

Filled with bright infinite possibility,

darkened by the hidden unknown,

unseen, undiscovered.

She stood there, alone.

Stripped naked, bare, fearful.

A soft tingle of excitement

trembled through her,

as she stared,

at the vast canvass,

stretched out before her.

Bold and bare,

and that first tentative footprint

hovering there.

Waiting.

You had become almost an obsessive thought with me: 'Is Nicky all right?'

I don't presume that the poem expresses your return to WOL, but it sure epitomises a fresh start of any kind, with great sensitivity and poetic inspiration.

Hi Nicky, I was wondering the other day where you were, have you been ill? Great to see you posting, and I love your new poem!

You have captured the feelings well...

'Frozen momentarily on the threshold
of that first tentative step,
out of the warm embrace of the darkness
into the soulless glare
of an abyss of nothingness.'

Wonderful to have you posting again Nicky : )

Great to have you back Nicky. You were a great in putter - commenting freely and constructively. I feel sure you would like the monthly WOLOP competition I now run - check out my penultimate blog. Your new poem is super. No need to fear renewal on WOL - you never really left our thoughts.

Hi Nicky,
so glad you ventured back into the halls of Write out loud.
Good come back too. It is scary when standing alone to face the unknown and sometimes to return to the once known. That footprint has to touch on solid ground sooner or later and be met by welcomes galore.

Great to have you back Nicky - and back with a bang. This one's a cracker. The abyss which threatens but invites. Indeed
