The Girl with the Blue Eyes

Slushing and sliding around

In the new fallen snow,

So white and crunchy and

Cracks like crisps underfoot.

Absentmindedly,

The Girl with the Blue Eyes

Suddenly falls flat on her bum!

She's quickly brought back to reality....

Looks around furtively.....

Did anyone see ......

That undignified slip?

No......

Just ME!

I was playing around

Chasing snowflakes for fun.

They tickled my nose as

I tried to catch them!

Why do they disappear?

I thought to myself..

How is the earth covered in a white

Fluffy duvet?

When so many flakes just disappear.

As if by magic....Yea! must be magic!

I tread carefully, stealthily as

I move towards her

The Girl with the Blue Eyes and the Russian scarf.

All sound is muffled and eerily silent

By this new, pristine blanket of snow..

The girl couldn't see or hear me as

I was obscured by small bushes

Adorned in mantels of pure white.

Branches gently shaking in the breeze

It flew off like fine, sugary powder,

Even the weight of a tiny bird resting

Made the powder fall.

The girl with the Blue Eyes

Didn't notice me,

As she sat for a while

Checking for any injury

Other than to her dignity!

At last she jumped up

Leaving a black hole in the snow blanket...

Where her bum had been!

She dusted herself down

And realised......

She now had a very wet derriere!

Thoughtfully, she removed

The brilliantly colourful Russian scarf

From head and shoulders and

Tied it firmly round her waist.

She felt much better now as

No one had seen her undignified slip in the snow.

No one.

Except Me!

I crept towards her through the bushes.....

And jumped out in front of

The Girl with the Blue Eyes and Russian scarf!

"Hiya Sophie"  I shouted.

"Steve" she screamed back at me

"You scared me half to death,

Does Sarah know you're out here,

So far away from the house?"

"Sssshhhhh!"  I whispered, "No"

Her voice seemed so loud

It might carry for miles,

Hope Sarah didn't hear that!

"I followed you out,

I wanted to play in the snow

Just me and you......No Sarah!"

Sophie, the Girl with the Blue Eyes and Russian scarf

Smiled at me as

I rolled over and she tickled my tum.

She scooped me up....

Snow and all.....

Squeezed me and hugged me so tight

I did a back flip and

Somersaulted into the white, sugary snow.

"OK Steve, let's play" said

The girl with the Blue Eyes.

She chased me around and

Threw snowballs at me.

As the sun went down

On this wintery scene

We were pleasantly exhausted

And all played out.

Sophie said "Let's go home"

The Girl with the Blue Eyes and her Siberian Cat.....ME!
