Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

By Lily

This was not written by me but by my daughter when she was about 12. It is about her grandmother who had cancer and had gradually lost her ability to recognise anyone or remember things. I haven't missed out the last word - that's how she ended it. I carry it in my purse and it still makes me cry.

======================================================================

Remember the days when we stared up at the clouds recognising faces, shapes and friends. don't you remember?

Remember on cold dark nights when we would sing the small tunes to scare away monsters, don't you remember?

Remember chilly mornings when you would slip on my old hat, don't you remember?

Remember when you were here?

I remember, as I never forget because I love

this poem has a purity and an innocence that takes us to a different place. It is so beautiful.

You must be proud of Lilly.
