I Wish The World Didn't Sleep

Lying here awake seems a waste of my time,

The whole world seems to be sleeping,

Am I the only insomniac alive,

Rolling and turning , please stop this itching

You see the world in a different light when your awake in the night

Everything is still and nothing moves

Tired eyes and sleepless mind doesn’t seem right

Not even the birds are singing the blues

Pass me a pill that fulfils my will

A magical cure to send me asleep

Give me the antidote for the curse on my arm

Pass me a pill to send me asleep

Its 6am, and I step out of bed

Rather tired and strangely wired

De-caf tea and toast, wholemeal bread

Watch my diet and hope my body does the rest

Every door is closed, my eyes are open

Everybody sleeps while my eye weeps

Play some songs that make’s sense out of nonsense

Dreading the night were I will once again be restless

Pass me that pill that fulfils my will

A magical cure to send me asleep

Give me an antidote and my soul the devil can keep

As long as in hell they have this pill

HI, Richard This poem is amazing! I can relate with the rotten sleeping pattern. I tried Peppermint tea if nothing else helps to fall asleep. The mornings can be very tiring when the sleep is not there. Very good poem!!...Zuzanna
