As yet untitled

Hi!  I was hoping to get some feedback on this poem which  wrote with my four year old son in mind. Hopefully you'll like it!

Untitled.

An elephant came home one day,
t'was greeted by a mouse.
The elephant then looked at he
"Why are you in my house?"

The mouse he jumped upon a chair,
and gave a little cough.
He looked old Elly in the eye
"I'm sure I must be lost

I came inside to beat the cold
and slept beside the fire
I tried to take the cosy chair
but found it so much higher

I poured some tea + ate the crumbs
upon the pantry floor
and just as I was 'bout to leave
you came in through the door!"

Poor Elly, he was so surprised
he fell on his behind.
He scratched the hair upon his head
"What a thing to find!"

The mouse then bid a kind farewell
and hopped down from his chair
he gave a wave
and then was gone
leaving poor Elly sitting there!

Hello Kathryn and welcome to WOL.
I liked you poem but think that children's poetry is a really difficult genre to write in. To me they almost need to be like a pantomime (something in there for the adults too). Good luck and can't wait for more posts.

Hi Kathryn, i like it. Although i cant help but feel that a more comical ending could have been thought of. I can think of some but they would be bordering on milliganish. So i will abstain. Not bad though, a good effort. Keep writing and keep posting.

I like it , it's cute, your son is lucky to have such encouragement.
Maybe 'Elly the Tiny traveller'??
