why after 5 years we still were not able to label each other as boyfriend/girlfriend

we love each other so much

but we didn't know what kind of love this was

it was so deep and meaningful that we thought 

we needed to turn it into an intimate relationship 

...but we never had sex, after 5 years of being on and off
