We have a dream

That one day we’ll be more than our looks

More than our fathers or husbands accomplishments

We want to be valued for our intelligence

 

We have a dream

To have the possibility for success

To be more than wives, mothers, and maids

We want to have our chance at greatness

 

We have a dream

That we can ask why and how

Without it being a bizarre occurrence  

We want to be curious

 

We have a dream

To be asked what we think of something

That it would be a serious question and to not be mocked

We want to be able to have an opinion

 

We have a dream

That we’re not “protected” from serious issues

To not be bubble wrapped like the china

We want to not be seen as fragile

 

We have a dream

To not be obligated or shamed into marriage

For marriage not to be expected but a choice

We want to be single if we choose

 

We have a dream

That if we fall in love

It won’t matter the gender

We want to love who we love

 

We have a dream

To be more than babymakers

Meant to stay home, watching the children

We want to be more than our biology
 

We have a dream

That one day we’ll be considered peers

Equal rivals and collaborators of the mind

We want to be considered equal

 

We have a dream

To make a discovery or hypothesis

Then not have men take responsibility

We want to credited for our work

 

We have a dream

That we’ll be paid equal to men

To not be a men’s responsibility

We want to be independant

 

We have a dream

To be on the Senate or jury

To one day be Prime Minister of Canada

We want to be considered a person by our government

 

We have a dream

That we can march for our rights

That we’ll be heard by our government

This WAS our dream
