Bedazzle

Our vocab is quickly diminishing

We don’t even need words to talk

Just text CUL8er on Iphone

And do it head-down as you walk

Shakespeare’s vocab was in thousands

Sixty-thousand, five-hundred and thirty-four

Today we only have ten to twenty thousand

So forty thousand have gone out the door

But all is not lost with our vocab

The Bard handed on many new words

Ones that do now sound quite modern

Ones we all use, or have heard

His legacy counted in thousands

In everyday language (it’s true)

Addiction, dishearten, eventful

Bedazzle and fashionable – just a few

This is one of my conversions of a newspaper article into rhyme. Like solving a puzzle. Good fun ?
