Little Love

entry picture

Little Love (an affair of the cart...)

I used to shop at Tesco,

well, why swim against the tide?

A Sedgley boy like me, you know,

it felt so good inside,

But I soon changed my ways

when their strategy I spied,

The way they squeeze competitors,

my retail romance died.

I had a fling with Aldi,

the quality is good,

I like the neat, teutonic way

they sell their discount food,

But now I'm loving Lidl

cause they bake their bread in-store,

And since I've had a taste of it

I need it more and more!

The friendly aisles of Lidl

glow golden with your sun,

I love your almond nibbles,

I love your cheesy buns,

My bags are full to bursting

with your bounty from above,

We love our BOGOFF bargains,

me and my Lidl love.

Come with me to the checkout

my darling little love,

Fulfil this need, it's not just greed,

it's what we're certain of,

No time for window shopping,

let's wheel those trollies round,

Exploring every Lidl

as we roam from town to town!

Strewth Brian you're more corrupted than I am.

How could I forget Waitrose ?

Hazel - street-talk is the highest form of intellectual exchange. That is why Brian and I understand each other

Don ?

Graham - Lidl Class...that's two words you don't often see together!

Actually I bloody love Lidl...it keeps the oiks out of Waitrose.

Don - buy one get one free.
Are you sure this is the kind of cultural interchange you were looking for when you joined this site?

This is an education for me. I remember Tesco,, Asda, Lidl. Brian has now taught me MAGNET but BOGOFF still puzzles me. Surely it doesn't mean 'get lost' ?\

DM?

Thanks for comments, always much appreciated! After the (melo)drama of last week's offering, I went for something a bit sillier! Bryan, what is a MAGNET?
And Hazel, I think the bread/love thing is deliberately ambiguous. Both addictive after all!

Very sweet. I love that you need more and more (bread or love?)

My wife and I used to be MAGNETs. We switched to Asda.
