Woman in a Cafe

I watched you working
Treading carefully through
The forgotten orders
Excusing your colleague’s forgetfulness

You had a youthful beauty
But your eyes looked older
Than what your body gave away

Forgive me for writing this
But your smile seemed genuine
And that caught my eye
I liked that.

a genuinely lovely poem Jon and your appreciation for this person obviously shines through. I feel like writing similar poems when I get excellent service from anyone showing politeness, friendliness and a good work ethic. I have come across so many slackers in my time that my heart positively jumps out my chest when I see someone who can actually do their job well and efficiently. Good honest writing - I'm enjoying reading your poetry this morning. Cheers, Colin.
