Separate We Stand

I fight for our country

While you stay behind

I risk my own life

For your kids and mine

You praise me and bless me

Making sure I am safe

And I feel so loved

Just as much as I love this place

We work side by side

As a team we are one

We are best friends, teammates

You trust me with a gun

But as soon as I say

That I was born a she

Everything changes

Just because I am now a he

I can’t fight to keep us safe

Not anymore with this law

I was willing to risk my life

Now you do for us all

Why should it matter

If I’m a boy or girl

We both want the same thing

We both love this world

So you have to fight

Leaving your family behind

While I sit in pain

Because my country is not on my side

If only there was a way

For you to understand

We are all the same people

Together we should stand
