The Bus Is Out Of Control

Some days it seems like the bus is out of control,

and you’re not sure if you’re actually on the bus,

or if you have just been left standing at the stop

as the bus sails past.

Then you start to think it even might be the wrong bus,

but it’s about to pull away from the stop,

so you leap on anyway.

You ask people where this bus is going to,

and nobody seems to know;

or at least they don’t want to tell you.

They don’t want to take the blame.

So you decide to stay on the bus

until it reaches a terminus,

and you can look around to see if there’s another bus

that will take you to where you want to be.

If you can work out where that is.

That’s when you find out

that there aren’t any buses that go to the right place

There aren’t even any that go in that direction,

or meet another one that will.

Most days, I give up on buses.

I often travel on buses and think that where I live is particularly well served buses. But I know some that are not so well served. I remember hearing a story from somebody I knew who was travelling on a bus stopped by the police who arrested the driver for speeding leaving the passengers on the bus stranded.

This is a recurring dream for me Trev, so let me know when you've worked out the allegory. Made me think of Brexit.

I intended this one as a sort of allegory.

In London, the first one-man bus they introduced crashed within 5 minutes of leaving the depot. When they asked the driver what happened he said "I dunno, I was upstairs collecting the fares".

I'll get my coat.
