Not Lost in Translation

entry picture

The Poetry Translation Centre translates the work of leading contemporary poets from Africa, Asia, and South America. They have just posted their first full length podcast featuring the poems of Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi from Sudan, one of the foremost African poets writing in Arabic today.

The recording includes seven different poems, read first in the English translation by Sarah Maguire, the founder and director of the Poetry Translation Centre, and then in Arabic by Saddiq.

You can listen by clicking on the link, or you can download as a free MP3:

As well as Saddiq’s work, you will find many other notable poets, from 22 different countries, on the website, with translations from 20 different languages; as well as details of live performances and workshops.
