The smell of snow

 

Today snow covered the ground

In the town

Where I live

No kids

Were out in the open

Building snowmen

That image from the telly

Of rosy cheeked cherubs in wellies

And vibrant wooly hats and gloves

That marketing men so love.

Sadly I knew they would be alone

At home

Building virtual snow creatures

On their mobile phones.

My heart is heavy

Because those children will never know

The beauty of our world and

 The smell of snow.
