Forever & Always

I knew when we met

It was like a bright sparkling light

Almost like a ray of sunshine

Once I knew your name 

I felt like the shadow on my soul had been lifted. 

 

That first night together I felt like I could finally breathe

You held my hand and I felt my world come to a halt

The electricity that I felt underneath my skin

When you spoke of forever I took it to heart.

 

The first two years flew by so fast

I let my guard down and felt brand new

Believed my past of abuse and neglect was gone

I trusted that our love was turning into something true. 

 

Then you told me you needed a new adventure

I let you go and let you believe I was okay

But I was dying inside especially when you slept with her

You tried to tell me you loved me but what is love with no trust?

 

The day you came back you muttered it was always me

I still feel afraid of the feeling that I am not enough

As the years go by I am starting to understand 

What you meant when you said Forever and Always.
