OPEN UMBRELLA

Life is a roller coaster ride

with no rail to hold it on track

The ups and downs take

my breath away

Holding on can be

exhausting

Elation followed by

despair...

Finding someone

 you care about

That doesn't dissapoint

is futile

It's inevitable

your stomach will feel

empty

your heart confused

Not reacting to those

reactions

Allowing the story to unfold

is difficult

But to jump in and write

the ending

Without allowing the

roller coaster ride

to stop and let you off

Is like jumping from the

Empire State Building

with an open umbrella

instead of a parachute.

Glad you were able to gleam something from the poem. I always learn useful information from our Write Out Loud family

An interesting metaphor being on a roller coaster ride with just an umbrella. Affairs of the heart can be a tad difficult at times to say the least. Nice poem Lynn
