TO THE ONE

I have been married

yet not had a husband

For a husband protects his wife

she becomes his life

his blood

his body

To cut her off

is to cut off his own arm

To harm her

is to harm himself

Marriage is a union

of two souls

There is no division

of a true marriage

It can only be divided

by death

So again I say to you

I have been married

yet not had a husband

O what a glory it would be

to find true marriage

with thee.

I think this is spot on Lynn. The sanctity if you like of marriage is often overlooked; I think a bond has to made to survive the rigours and that can only be done through mutual respect for each other. We call it love - it is not enough to have just attraction - though that is a wonderful bonus.
I guess at the end you mean you would like this person to give you what you seek - which is touching if unattainable.
