You fall in love with eyes

because the eyes have it

they write histories in the making

they are wine for the taking

never perfectly saying no

always willing.

 

Because the eyes have it

they will follow you in every detail

as you take those histories

and make them futures

until those eyes make light of will

and see you and see you still

 

behind the grey walls of age still shine. 

 

If love is to fall let it be for eyes

with their histories and wonder

full of wonder

of flesh made thin by history

tragic and sublime

drawing you into the nexus of time.
