Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Red

Any other poets out there twitching to write tonight? This may not be allowed on here so if it's not please accept my apologies and remove it but there are a few fellow human beings out there I can't help but think of tonight,

Red

It's not until you've looked into the crying eyes
Of a child with dying parents
Waiting for benefits re-assessments

It's not until you've stood 4am
Catheter in hand
Pained after long-awaited operation
Consoling your nurse

It's not until you've seen,
Foodbanks overspilling
With tears,
That one park bench
Homeless man
Multiplying

Sinking into an unreported,
Thwarted abyss,
'Hidden from view'
Urchins in Draconian times,
Held back from their future,
So the rich can get richer

Go out tomorrow,
Use your vote

Don't be bitter,
Don't be shy,
Don't be selfish,
Don't be blue,

For the children
For the elderly
For the nurses
For you

Be for the many,
Not the few.

Thanks both ?

I noticed the tired mistake when I was editing and just left it. Perhaps that's why. It was painful enough to watch them try.

It feels weird to read this back now after the result.

defo allowed.

will be popping up to the polling station after I've had me fish 'n' chips.

but as I just commented on another blog - This election has left me drained of hope and wishing for miracles. And the weather is shit!

my X will be for a miracle.

good poem Candi although I did giggle at the image of an overstretched nurse - sounds painful - no wonder she needs consoling ?
