Good point, Juan, and I should have been on top of it. I've used the same expression countless times, probably saying 'a thorn in my side'. Thanks.

I guess I was more focused on rhyming than meaning. However, have you ever heard the expression, ''you are a thorn on my side!'' - a thorn suggest a bother or something/ someone that is cumbersome and simply disturbing. A fool is like a thorn in one's side when they are out to pester you - trust me, I've had people act the fool to annoy me - just like a thorn on my side.
